AI Chat Processing
• Messages you send to Ansel and recent conversation context are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate responses
• We use chat messages only to provide the chat feature (and, if needed, to prevent abuse)
• We do not sell chat data or use it for advertising
• We do not store chat messages on our servers; our AI provider (OpenAI) may retain data according to their policies

Analytics and Diagnostics
• Basic app usage events (screen views, feature usage) to improve the app

• We do not collect or store IP addresses for analytics

• Subscription status and purchase receipts provided by Apple and RevenueCat
2. How We Use Your Information
Your local data stays on your device and is used to power features like your plan, streaks, journal, reminders, quiz responses, and relapse logs. We use analytics to understand feature usage and improve reliability.
Chat messages are sent to an AI provider to generate responses. We use chat messages only to provide the chat feature (and, if needed, to prevent abuse). If you contact us by email, we use your message only to respond to you.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored locally on your device using the device's application storage. We do not transmit your journal entries, quiz responses, or progress data to our servers. AI chat messages are sent to a third-party provider to generate responses, and analytics data is stored by our analytics provider.
Your security depends on your device settings. We recommend enabling a device passcode or biometric lock to protect your data.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data with service providers needed to deliver the app experience.

5. Your Privacy Rights

6. Data Retention
Your data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. We do not retain server-side copies because we do not collect your app data. Chat data retention is governed by our AI provider (OpenAI) according to their policies.
7. Children's Privacy
Ansel is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.
8. Third-Party Services
Our App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. If you purchase or manage a subscription, Apple handles payment processing and related data. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status, PostHog for analytics, and a third-party AI provider for chat responses. Some screens may load remote images; those providers may receive your IP address when your device requests that content.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
