  • We do not collect your journal entries, reflections, accountability contacts, or detailed relapse records. They stay only on your device.
  • We use service providers for AI chat, subscriptions, analytics, diagnostics, and advertising attribution.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • You can delete data stored by the App from the App or by uninstalling it.

This Privacy Policy explains how Ansel ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Information that stays only on your device

Ansel stores your journal entries, reflections, name or nickname, accountability contact details, full relapse records, reminders, and similar manual recovery content only in app storage on your device. We do not receive or store those items on our servers or with our analytics and attribution providers.

Information sent off your device

Depending on how you use Ansel, we may process:

  • Chat messages and recent conversation context when you use AI chat
  • Pseudonymous usage and device information, such as feature interactions, selected quiz, symptom, or relapse categories, progress metrics such as streak length, install and session activity, app and device details, campaign attribution data, and diagnostics
  • Subscription status and purchase history provided by Apple and RevenueCat
  • Your email address and message if you choose to contact us for support

Ansel does not add your IP address to its analytics events. Like any online service, a provider receives an IP address when your device connects to it and may process that address under its own privacy policy.

2. How We Use Information

  • Provide and personalize app features, including plans, streaks, reminders, subscriptions, and AI chat
  • Analyze usage, diagnose errors, improve reliability, and develop Ansel
  • Measure advertising campaigns, installs, and subscription conversions
  • Respond to support requests and meet legal, safety, and security obligations

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed with service providers and partners that support Ansel:

  • Apple and RevenueCat process payments, receipts, subscription status, and related identifiers
  • PostHog processes pseudonymous usage, progress, device, and diagnostic information
  • AppsFlyer and advertising partners process device identifiers, campaign data, install and session activity, and subscription conversion events for attribution and advertising measurement
  • Rork and its AI service providers, which may include OpenAI, process chat messages and recent conversation context to generate responses and prevent abuse

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect people or rights, or as part of a business transfer.

4. Advertising Attribution and Tracking

We use AppsFlyer and advertising partners to understand which campaigns lead to installs and subscriptions. This processing may combine device or advertising identifiers with activity from other companies' apps or websites. Apple may classify this activity as tracking. You can limit tracking through your device privacy settings where those controls apply.

5. Storage, Security, and Retention

Some information remains in app storage on your device. Service providers retain other information under their own policies and our agreements with them. We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, legal requirements, and security. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.

You can protect locally stored information by using a device passcode or biometric lock. You can delete data stored by the App from its account settings or by uninstalling it.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You can use device settings to control permissions and available tracking choices. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of personal information. Contact us to make a request.

7. Children's Privacy

Ansel is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have done so, we will take steps to delete it.

8. Third-Party Services

Service providers process information under their own privacy policies. Ansel may also contain links to third-party sites that we do not control.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the revised policy and change the "Last updated" date. We will provide other notice when required by law.
